Embracing Our Differences inspires students to create art each year in support of diversity. Students’ works are displayed in prominent community spaces, and the SC/TA helps spread word about this project yearlong.
The Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties provides after-school and summer programs for more than 7,000 children at eight locations throughout Sarasota County.
Save Our Seabirds provides field trips and other active learning opportunities to explore seabirds, an essential part of our local ecosystem. The SC/TA donates annually to these efforts.
Cinderella’s Closet (Free Prom Gowns in SRQ) is an annual drive to provide prom dresses and accessories to teens. Members of the public, and of the SC/TA, donate regularly and provide springtime opportunities for teens to choose what they need.
The Education Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc., has awarded more than $3 million in grants to more than 4,000 teachers for classroom projects since the program’s inception in 1988.
Throughout the year, members of the SC/TA contribute to donation drives for the area’s food pantries.
The Sarasota Retired Educators Association hosts speakers, supports youth literacy program with an essay contest, contributes to schoolbooks and local food pantries. Its members volunteer throughout the community.
